Because the man was part of the movies that basically got me interested in cars as a kid. I think that honestly applies for a lot of us.
If I hadn't stumbled across the AMAZEBALLS that Fast and Furious is, who knows if I'd have ever been so hooked on cars. His body of work is alright, his contributions to FF will always be legendary, and that is why I feel sad at this.
Man still had his whole life ahead of him and just like that, it was gone.

Agreed, while I look at the first F&F film now and shake my head at a time when I was much younger, it still was a legit gear-head film that gave a representation of a new generation of hot-rodders. If I'm honest I probably would not have modded my Honda if it wasn't for that movie.

And look at how far they've come.
Civics and Silvias to LFAs and M5s and every other manner of insanity that they've engaged in, and the best part is they never bothered being serious.
It was Oceans 11 for cars and I never bothered caring.

Yeah, that's a good way of looking at the series, it was Ocean's 11 with crazy cars and stunts.

Believe me. My friend called me and asked if I'm okay because he found out Walker died. That itself really shows how influential these movies have been on me. To everyone around me these movies are evident on how they've affected my personality and hobbies.
Not only was he an actor, but he was a guy who was a jalop in real life, which gave some credibility to the character. Honestly though, I know this may sound crass, but I'm glad it happened in a car. I'm not glad that hes dead, but I'm glad it was while he was in a place that he probably was used to. If I were to die, I would hope it would be in something jalop related, whether I'm a driver or passenger, because you would know that I died in somewhere I loved to be.
These movies will never be the same. We've lost a great guy. Hopefully St. Peter doesn't enforce any speed limits through the pearly gates.

That's what I loved about the movies. They went from ricers pull off petty theft, to full bad asses in real awesome cars pulling off full heists. Evolution of the jalop at its finest.

And it's really awesome that he used all the enthusiasm he generated to raise money for good causes. He seems like he was one of the genuinely good guys.
The trolls that are happy he died are just jealous bastards who know that they'll never accomplish 1/1000th as much as Paul did by age 40 as they will in their entire miserable lives.
Rest in Peace Paul
